|The Provincial Government of Oudomxay is forcing together with international organizations the development of Oudoxomay Province.
Water Supply Construction
A key topic for the Province of Oudomxay is rural development, as most people are active in the villages. The Government in cooperation with nongovernmental organizations like Welthungerhilfe (GAA) and state support for example from Vietnam, the European Union, and China work on the improvement of livestock farming and the intensification of rice production. To improve the income situation, a further focus is the development of small scale industry and commerce, for example with support by the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). All these activities need appropriate infrastructure. In cooperation with Swedish Development Cooperation (SIDA), World Bank, and the World Food Programme (WFP), roads have been and will be constructed, and more and more villages have proper water supply and electricity provision.
In the 21st century, education is utterly important for future development. Therefore, schools have been built and teachers trained, for example by the World Bank and the German Development Organization (DED). Schools are furthermore the base for preventive medical care, supported by UNICEF. Further projects involve preventive measures on Malaria and Tuberculosis. Japanese Development Cooperation (Jica) supports thereby the development of hospital infrastructure.
All these activities together form a complex network of development initiatives, which are coordinated by the Provincial Government to support the people of Oudomxay to develop their province and country.
